Ed Kelly is a retired high school and college Spanish teacher who lives in Brookings, Oregon, where he plays in the Wild Rivers Symphony Orchestra, acts in local theater, fishes in the nearby Pacific Ocean and writes and speaks on the reported apparitions at Garabandal.
He had never been much interested in apparitions – before 1969. Even before becoming a Third Order Carmelite more than thirty years ago, he took to heart St. John of the Cross’ admonition that running after rumors of prodigies and miracles is a sign of weak faith and dangerous to faith. He claims that he wasn’t looking for apparitions; they found him while he was in Spain walking to Santiago de Compostela, running in front of the Pamplona bulls, playing in an international invitational tennis tournament and trying to impress Spanish girls.
A Walk to Garabandal is a detailed account of the four and a half years he spent in the area of the small Cantabrian Mountain village, the surrounding area and the region’s Capital, Santander, starting just three and a half years after the last reported apparition.
