Fr. Gabriel Weber Dies

GABRIEL M. WEBER, O.S.M., a solemn professed friar and priest of the Order of Friar Servants of Mary (Servites)-United States of America Province, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Sandalwood Manor Nursing Facility, Wheat Ridge, CO. He was 92 years of age and a priest for 66 years.

Fr. Weber was born August 13, 1923 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Andrew and Mary Rose (Stoessel) Weber. He entered the Order of Friar Servants of Mary (Servites) on September 6, 1942, professed solemn vows on September 22, 1946 and was ordained a priest on May 15, 1949.

His assignments in the Archdiocese of Portland included The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother “The Grotto” from 1968 to 1971, and then again from 1980 to 1988. His other assignments included: Mater Dolorosa Seminary, Hillside, IL; St. John Berchmans Parish, Detroit, MI; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Denver, CO; Mount Carmel High School, Denver, CO; Assumption Parish, Denver, CO; St. Anthony Parish, Ottawa, Canada; St. Philip Benizi Parish, Fullerton, CA; St. John Neumann Parish, Yuma, AZ; Chaplain, U.S. Air Force; and Our Lady of Belen Parish, Belen, NM.

He is the brother of Edward (Judy) and the late Joseph (Juliana), Charles, James (Loretta), Robert (Marsha), Marie (Ed) & Sr. Rose Ann Weber, B.V.M.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother, “The Grotto”. Reception of the body of Fr. Weber will take place at 11:00 a.m., followed by recitation of the Servite Rosary at 11:30 a.m., and Mass at 12 noon.
