The popular guided lantern tours, which were debuted during Advent and Christmas, are back for the season of Lent.
These tours will take place at dusk.
Guided Spiritual Tour
Enjoy a very special evening touring The Grotto at dusk.
Begin your tour outside the Visitor Center, where you will meet your guide and receive lantern (battery operated) to use to help guide your way, although this tour will take place at dusk, and not in total darkness.
On your tour you will experience the beauty of the Via Matris, the magnificent cultural shrines on the shrine path, St. Anne’s Chapel, and the spectacular evening view from the Meditation Chapel.
The Via Matris and Cultural Shrines are lighted and are particularly beautiful at this time of the evening.
You will also have an opportunity to view The Grotto and the Christus Statue in the evening light.
There will be time for prayer and reflection.
The guided tours are limited to 8 guests per tour, so we can maintain safe social distancing. The tours will last approximately one hour.
These tours will take place rain or shine, so dress for the weather. The paths are uneven in places, so we suggest good walking shoes.
This tour is wheelchair accessible, but there is some incline on the path leading to the elevator which takes guests up to the Upper Gardens.
