Sample Bequest Language and Tax ID

A bequest to The Grotto will qualify your estate for a charitable deduction equal to the entire amount you bequeath.

A general bequest:

“I give, devise and bequeath to The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother (The Grotto), whose current legal address is 8840 NE Skidmore St., Portland, Oregon 97220, the sum of $___________ to be used for its general charitable purposes.”

To bequeath a percentage of your estate:

“I give, devise and bequeath to The National Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother (The Grotto), whose current legal address is 8840 NE Skidmore St., Portland, Oregon 97220, ____% of all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, to be used for its general charitable purposes.”

To bequeath a balance or residue of your estate:

You can direct that a beneficiary receive all that remains in an estate after payment of funeral costs, debts, taxes, administrative and probate expenses, and specific and general bequests have been honored.

Flexibility

Were you aware you can change your mind about your gift at any time? Since the gift is not awarded until after your lifetime, you can change your mind at any time.

Tax advantages.

Generally, the value of the estate gifted qualifies for an estate tax charitable deduction.
