A Discussion with Deacon Scott Aikin – Cradle Catholic/Convert Catholic: We never stop being converts on our Journey with Christ (a sharing of my Diaconal Journey).

Deacon Scott Aikin has served as a Permanent Deacon since 2007 and has been married to his wife, Brenda, for 36 years. Together they are the proud parents of four young adult children and grandparents of two.

He earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology (1992) and his Master’s degree in Natural Resources/Water Quality (2000) from Humboldt State University in California. Following a move to Vancouver, Washington in 1999, Deacon Scott dedicated nearly 30 years to Federal Service, applying his expertise in natural resources and environmental stewardship. Now retired from federal work, he serves as a theology teacher and campus minister at Seton Catholic High School, where he is passionate about forming young people in faith and discipleship.

An enrolled tribal member of the Prairie Band of Potawatomi Nation of Northeast Kansas, Deacon Scott’s ministry is deeply shaped by his cultural heritage and commitment to servant leadership. He currently serves on the Seattle Archdiocese Pastoral Council and is Vice President and a teacher for Encounter Ministries Portland Campus.

Grounded in faith, family, and service, Deacon Scott brings a unique perspective that integrates theology, ecology, leadership, and Indigenous identity into his ministry and speaking engagements.
